After The Independence





















After Indonesian became independent on August 17, 1945, Indonesia's independence preparatory committee (Panitia Persiapan Kemerdekaan Indonesia - PPKI) inaugurated Ir. Sukarno as the first president and Moh. Hatta as the first vice president of Indonesia on August 18, 1945. Then Ir. Sukarno decided he served as president for life. After the president and vice president elected, and then formed the Central Indonesian National Committee (Komite Nasional Indonesia Pusat – KNIP) as interim parliament until next elections held. The new government was declared on 31 August 1945 and wanted the Republic of Indonesia which consists of eight provinces, namely: Sumatra, Kalimantan, West Java, East Java, Central Java, Sulawesi, Maluku and Nusa Tenggara.
While deciding to become president for life, but Ir. Sukarno was president only for 11 years, from 1945-1966. During the Sukarno led, a lot of development going on, including monumen nasional (Monas), MPR building, and planning of the capital city.
